Shane Wilson (Founder)
Shane Wilson has spent the last twenty years in public education working with at-risk populations and their families. Shane recognized the need for stronger parental involvement, and over the years, an ever-increasing need for kids to simply get outside and play.
Through a sport he’s passionate about, fishing, Shane realized an opportunity to address these issues and founded Fishing’s Future, a 501-C3 corporation intended to reconnect kids to nature, strengthen family relationships, to educate the youth and their families about the natural environment and the sport of fishing in a way that provides a positive outdoor experience and brings parents back into the lives of their children .
Shane has been fishing with both conventional and fly fishing gear for nearly 45 years. He has received numerous environmental and state awards for his dedication to the youth and for his environmental stewardship. Alongside his recognition by the Texas State Senate Shane holds an IGFA Fly Fishing World Record, has two Guinness World Records, has produced and patented products for the fishing industry, is listed in the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and currently serves his community through numerous boards and committees. Originally from Indiana, Wilson has fished in every state, except Hawaii, and throughout most of the Canadian provinces.
He moved to Texas almost two decades ago and quickly established his reputation in the saltwater environment. He has appeared on television, in magazines, on radio talk shows and gives motivational talks. He is married to Stephanie and they share their home on South Padre Island with "Rovie" an "Old" Old English Sheep Dog and a Bearded Collie "Benny".
